WINTER NOTES

STREETPROOFING:
Caring means taking an active part in your children’s lives, teaching them needed skills that will guide them as they grow. Streetproofing techniques can be used by your children both in your home and while outside at play.  Fact Sheet link

FURNACE PROBLEMS:
If your furnace goes out over the winter and the office is closed please contact PEEL HEATING SERVICE EXPERTS at
(905) 451-7085. Please keep this number for future reference.

CO-OP ROADWAYS, DRIVEWAYS, SIDEWALKS AND CURBS WILL ALL BE REPLACED:
With the recommendations from the Capital Planning Committee, the Board of Directors have hired the CCI Group for their engineering consulting services for the asphalt paving of all driveways, roadways and concrete curbs and sidewalks, which are all scheduled to be replaced in the Co-op. The Board of Directors will keep you up-dated as the project progresses.

SNOW COVERED SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS:
This is a reminder that it is a member’s responsibility to clear the sidewalks. If your unit does not have a sidewalk please keep your neighbours in mind and help them. Some members may be unable to clear the snow and ice themselves, due to health conditions and if you are aware of that, they would really appreciate your help.

OUTSIDE WATER TAPS:
Please ensure that your outside water taps are turned off for the winter. Now the cold weather is upon us if these taps are not shut off we could be faced with frozen pipes which can cause the pipes to burst and create an awful mess and expense. The taps should be turned off from the inside and the outside tap opened to drain any remaining water, also leave the outside tap open slightly to eliminate the possibility of the pipes freezing.

SMOKE ALARMS & CO DETECTORS:
Please ensure that both your Smoke Alarms and CO Detectors (Carbon Monoxide Detectors) are working properly. They are required in every unit and must in good working order at ALL times. Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless gas that reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood. Low levels over long periods of time are dangerous, and high levels can cause unconsciousness and death.   Web Link link

FIRE EXTINGUSHERS:
The Board of Directors has determined that the co-op will no longer be providing them to each unit. However, home fires are often unpredictable, and they can be deadly. So it is extremely important to have at least one fire extinguisher in an easy-to-grab spot - it can be a lifesaver!

VISITOR PARKING:
In case you are not aware the Visitor Parking is for visitors only. Members are not allowed to park in visitors at any time nor are Long Term Guests. With the holiday season upon us please do not park your car(s) in visitors. Many members are expecting guests over the Holidays and there is limited visitor parking that should be left for any visitor to utilize them. If you have a visitor and they plan on spending the night please register your guest's vehicle by contacting the Parking Control Company at 416-231-9191, or you can also do this online at EZpermit.ca link
